Mosta claimed their first three points in the BOV Premier League as they defeated Gzira United 2-1 at the Hibernians Stadium on Saturday.

For the Maroons, this was the first defeat after obtaining two draws and a win in their first three matches.

With Kurt Magro still ruled out injured, Mosta had three changes from the team which lost to Hibernians as Martin Vlcek, Emerson Vella and Dexter Xuereb replaced Jaroslav Repa, Edin Murga and Zachary Brincat. On the other hand, for Gzira, Jonathan Bondin and Ellinton Antonio Costa Morais replaced the injured Souleymane Diamoutene and Dyson Falzon.

The Blues managed to take the lead on the 9th minute thanks to a low shot from the right by Njongo Priso which beat goalkeeper Jurgen Borg when served on the right by Martin Vlcek.

Gzira levelled matters on the 66th minute when off a Rafael Ledemsa corner from the right, Clifford Gatt Baldacchino slotted the ball past Manuel Bartolo.

However a minute later, Mosta regained the lead thanks to Lucky Victor Oseghale whose conclusion from the right beat the Gzira custodian, following an assist by Priso.

To make matters worse for the Maroons, substitute Joceano da Silva Santos was then sent off by referee Philip Farrugia ten minutes from time after receiving a second yellow card.

In added time, Gzira had Robert de Pinho Souza sent off for kicking an opponent and Njongo Priso of Mosta was also sent off after receiving a second yellow card.

Meanwhile at the National Stadium, Hibernians came from behind to register a most dramatic 2-1 win over Pembroke Athleta.

A third consecutive win for Mark Miller’s side and a fourth consecutive defeat for the team led by Winston Muscat.

Miller maintained his faith in the same players that had defeated Mosta in their last outing. Pembroke, on the other hand, welcomed back Siraj Arab and Luke Montebello. Arab, Montebello and Scozzese replaced Clifford Gauci, Asani Djeljilj and Jhonatan Bernardo Mariano from the team which lost to Valletta.

Pembroke had a perfect start, taking the lead on the 4th minute thanks to an own goal by Jackson Lima who deflected a shot from the right by Siraj Arab past goalkeeper Andrew Hogg.

Hibernians equalised on the 63rd minute when Juan Manuel Varea managed to place the ball at the back of the net following a deflection by Miguel Attard.

The Paolites notched the winner three minutes in added time when off a freekick from the right by Clayton Failla, Bjorn Kristensen headed home past the Pembroke custodian.
