BOV Division 2: Third win for leaders Zejtun Corinthians

BOV-Second-DivisionLeaders Zejtun Corinthians registered a third win in as many matches in the BOV Second Division as they defeated Swieqi United 2-0 at the Charles Abela Stadium on Saturday. Alan Tabone put Zejtun ahead just before half-time and Adrian Carabott sealed the issue with a second goal on the 68th.

San Gwann defeated St. George’s 3-1. An own goal on the 32nd minute paved the way for Stefano Grima’s side. Abeeb Abiodun Williams doubled the score on the 63rd and three minutes later, Nezar Abouhaisa added another. Matthew Borg pulled one back for St. George’s seven minutes from time.

At the Centenary Stadium, Mgarr United defeated Attard 3-1. Lazar Doric scored twice on the 40th and 44th but just before half-time, Mauro Grioli pulled one back. However Kenneth Aquilina sealed the issue with a third goal three minutes from time.

Zabbar St. Patrick beat Mellieha 2-0 at the Charles Abela Stadium thanks to a goal by Shalon Diacono on the 19th and a Jean Claude Cesare penalty on the half-hour.

A goal by Dhonatan Santos da Hora six minutes in the second half gave Qrendi a narrow win over Marsaxlokk at the Luxol Stadium.

Siggiewi found no difficulty in beating Gudja United 4-0 at the Luxol Stadium. Former Gudja striker Didier Sohna put Siggiewi ahead on the 8th minute and ten minutes later, the same player doubled the score. Eman Ciappara made it 3-0 on the 59th and ten minutes from time, Samuel Vella added another.

Zejtun lead the way with 9 points, followed by Qrendi on 7, San Gwann and Zabbar 6, Siggiewi 5, Mgarr, Marsaxlokk, Birzebbuga and Attard 4, Swieqi 3, Ghaxaq and Mellieha 2, St. George’s 1 and Gudja 0.
