BOV Division 3: Sta. Venera, Kalkara maintain unbeaten run

BOV-Third-DivisionSta. Venera Lightnings and Kalkara maintained their unbeaten run in the BOV THird Division as both registered wins on Saturday.

At the Luxol Stadium, Sta. Venera Lightnings defeated Msida St. Joseph 3-0. Dylan Mercieca put St. Venera ahead on the 35th minute. Two minutes later, Danijel Vasic doubled the score and the Serbian striker sealed the issue with another goal on the 68th.

Kalkara beat Ta’ Xbiex 6-0 at the Sirens Stadium. Timmy Thomas opened the score on the 14th minute. Ryan Sell doubled the score on the 33rd and Benjamin Ayuba made it 3-0 on the 59th and two minutes later, Jonathan Xerri added another. Timmy Thomas completed a hat-trick with two goals on the 83rd and 89th.

Xghajra Tornados defeated Zurrieq 3-1 at the Luxol Stadium. Noel Tabone put Xghajra ahead on the 52nd minute but five minutes later, Marko Dimitrijevic levelled matters for Zurrieq. However Royter Degiorgio restored the lead for Xghajra on the 62nd and the same player added another on the 93rd minute.

At the Charles Abela Stadium, Kirkop United beat Dingli Swallows by the odd goal in five. Matthew Cassar put Kirkop ahead on the 17th but Luke Galea equalised thanks to a penalty on the 27th. Two minutes from the end of the first half, Fabian Fonseca made it 2-1 for Kirkop and on the 68th minute, Matthew Cassar added another. Three minutes in added time, Luke Galea reduced the gap for Dingli with a second goal.

A brace by Denis Sytnik gave Luqa St. Andrew’s a 2-0 win over Mtarfa at the Charles Abela Stadium. He opened the score on the 8th minute and doubled the score thanks to a penalty on the 14th.

In another match, Santa Lucia defeated Mdina Knights 4-1 at the Sirens Stadium.

St. Venera lead the way with 14 points, followed by Kalkara on 13, Kirkop and Msida 12, Santa Lucia and Luqa 10, Xghajra 8, Mdina, Dingli and Zurrieq 6, Mtarfa and Ta’ Xbiex 3 and Marsaskala 0.
