Nadur Youngsters move top

bov-gfa-leagues-logoNewly-promoted Nadur Youngsters moved top in the BOV Gozo Football League First Division following a 3-0 win over Oratory Youths on Sunday. A win which puts them 1-0 ahead of champions Ghajnsielem who were held in a draw by Victoria Hotspurs.

Dewide dos Santos put Nadur ahead on the 7th minute and two goals early in the second half – by Joseph Grima on the 52nd and Claudio Antunes on the 56th – gave the Youngsters the three points.

Ghajnsielem dropped another two points in a 1-1 draw with Victoria Hotspurs on Friday. Henrique Maciel put the Hotspurs ahead on the 76th minute but five minutes later, an own goal restored equilibrium.

Xewkija Tigers moved third after they came from behind to beat Kercem Ajax 2-1 on Sunday. Ognjen Rolovic gave Kercem the lead on the 16th minute but Dene Shields converted a penalty on the 32nd to level matters and scored again on the 75th minute to hand the Tigers victory.

In another match on Friday, SK Victoria Wanderers defeated nine-man Xaghra United 2-0. Following a goalless first half, Igor Grkajac put the Wanderers ahead on the 51st minute and the same player doubled the score three minutes in added time.

Meanwhile in the BOV Gozo Football League Second Division, Qala Saints and St. Lawrence Spurs shared the spoils in a goalless draw while the clash between Zebbug Rovers and Gharb Rangers was abandoned on the 72nd minute after referee Andrea Sciriha was hit by a water bottle. Gharb were leading 1-0 although they had two penalties saved by the Zebbug goalkeeper.
