Futsal competitions to kick-off in mid-November — FMA Futsal Festival launched

fmaThe Futsal season will kick-off on Friday 11th November with FMA Super Cup final between champions Valletta and Knock-Out winners Valletta at the Corradino Pavilion, kick-off at 20:00.

The draws for the FMA League were held earlier this week at the association’s new premises in Sta. Venera – premises offered to the association by Konica Minolta.

The Futsal League will be spread over two rounds. Fifteen teams, including five new teams, will be playing on a one-round league basis and then the top five will take part in the Elite Round leading to the Play-Offs while the other teams will take part in the First Division Round. Following the intervention of Parliamentary Secretary Chris Agius, the Corradino Pavilion will continue to host the Futsal competitions.

Meanwhile Futsal Malta Association launched the FMA Futsal Festival – a league for boys and girls born 2004 and 2005. This is part of the FMA’s vision at improving the game at grassroots level before embarking on a project of a National Futsal Academy.

Eight teams will be taking part in the first FMA Futsal Festival, namely Luxol, Sliema Wanderers, Żebbuġ Rangers, Mosta, Pietà Hotspurs, Marsaxlokk, Balzan and the Malta Futsal School. Games will be played on Tuesdays at the Basketball Pavilion, Ta’ Qali and the National Sports School, Pembroke.
