Valletta, Balzan register wins

Valletta defeated Sliema Wanderers 2-1 at the National Stadium to keep the pace with leaders Balzan.

The Citizens took the lead on the 61st minute when Federico Falcone beat Glenn Zammit with a diving header following an inviting cross by Leandro Aguirre.

Valletta doubled the score on the 69th through Llewelyn Cremona whose powerful shot, when served by Santiago Malano, gave the Sliema goalkeeper no chance.

Sliema pulled one back eight minutes from time through Mark Scerri, served by Milos Galin, whose angled shot beat goalkeeper Dziugas Bartkus.

A goal by former Mosta striker Bojan Kaljevic enabled leaders Balzan to return to winning ways after defeating the Blues 1-0 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

Balzan scored the all-important goal on the 33rd minute thanks when Matteo Piciollo exchanged the ball with Alan da Silva Souza with the ball reaching Bojan Kaljevic who slotted past Manuel Bartolo.
