BOV Division 1: Naxxar move six points clear

Naxxar Lions moved six points clear in the BOV First Division following a comfortable 6-2 win over ten-man Fgura United at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

Naxxar took the lead thanks to a Yuri de Jesus Messias penalty on the 2nd minuet but Ebube Okpokwu two minues later. Jurgen Debono made it 2-1 for Naxxar on the 23rd but once again Fgura restored equilibrium on the 33rd through Warren Chircop. However another penalty, this time converted by Sneyder Julian Guevara Munoz just before half-time made it 3-2 for Naxxar. From then onwards, the Lions dominated, scoring another three goals thanks to Duane Bonnici on the 57th and a brace by Yuri de Jesus Messias on the 79th and 85th.

At the Centenary Stadium, Sirens defeated Melita 2-0 thanks to goals by Tyrone Farrugia on the 43rd and Miguel Ciantar on the 83rd.

Ten-man Pietà Hotspurs came from behind to beat Marsa 2-1 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Yessous Camilleri put Marsa ahaead on the 74th but Gabriel Mensah equalised on the 85th and one minute from time, Dylan Agius converted a penalty for the Hotspurs to hand them the three points.

At the Centenary Stadium, Qormi also turned defeat into victory to beat Vittoriosa Stars 3-1 despite having a player sent off. Andreas Galea put Vittoriosa ahead after just eight minutes, Darko Medic equalised on the 68th, Ousmane Sidibe made it 2-1 on the 78th and Noah Olawole Ojuola sealed the issue with a third goal one minute from time.

Naxxar lead the way with 27 points, followed by Qormi and Mqabba on 21, Lija 20, Senglea 19, Sirens and Vittoriosa 16, Pietà 15, Rabat 13, Melita and Marsa 12, Zebbug 10, Gharghur 9 and Fgura 8.
