Eight Premier League players suspended

Eight Premier League players were handed a one-match ban by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner following the weekend’s matches.

Amadou Samb (Floriana), Massimiliano Giusti (Hamrun), Rodolfo Soares dos Santos (Hibs), John Mintoff (Sliema), Ivan Edgardo Paz (St. Andrews) and Ebiabowei Baker (Tarxien) were banned for one match after being sent off or collecting a fourth yellow card. Calvin Camilleri (Mosta), Luca Brincat (Sliema) and Andrew Agius (Tarxien) were suspended as their clubs did not submit their medical certificate.

Samb, Mintoff and Brincat are ruled out of Floriana vs Sliema, Giusti and Camilleri will skip the clash Mosta vs Hamrun, Soares will be missing the game against Gzira while Baker and Agius will miss Tarxien’s next game against Pembroke.

Floriana president Riccardo Gaucci and Hibernians secretary Stephen Abela were banned for one match.

In Division 1, Ebube Okpokwu and George Chircop (Fgura), Jean Pierre Attard (Melita), Mead Mifsud and Christian Grech (Pietà) and Ryan Micallef (Rabat) were banned for one match while Lija Athletic team manager Colin Ciantar was suspended for one match.

Lesley Cassar Jackson (Birzebbuga) and Nicholas Abela (Mgarr) were banned for two matches in Division 2 while Firas Aboulezz (Atard), Gordon Failla (Ghaxaq), Bjorn Bondin (Qrendi), Didier Sohna (Siggiewi) and Lydin Camilleri (St. George’s) were banned for one match.

Christian Schembri and Richard Deschrijver (Dingli), Andrew Formosa (Msida), David Zammit (Mtarfa), Andre Joe Cutajar (Santa Lucia) and Noel Tabone (Xghajra) were handed a one-match ban in Division 3.
