BOV Division 3: Impressive win for Luqa over Santa Lucia puts them in second place

Santa Lucia suffered their first defeat in the BOV Third Division as they suffered a heavy 0-4 defeat to Luqa St. Andrew’s at the Charles Abela Stadium on Sunday. A win which puts Luqa in second place, two points ahead of Santa Lucia.

An own goal just before half-time paved the way for Luqa who increased the lead seven minutes in teh second half thanks to Lee Baldacchino. Jason Good converted a penalty on the 66th minute and Lydon Sciberras made it 4-0 on the 75th.

Mdina Knights returned to winning ways as they defeated Dingli Swallows 4-0 at the Charles Abela Stadium thanks to a hat-trick by Daniel Cremona and a goal by Andrea Spiteri.

Zurrieq registered a 4-0 win over Ta’ Xbiex at the Luxol Stadium. Leontiev Konda opened the score on the 23rd minute. Brendan Scerri made it 2-0 eight minutes in the second half and in the dying minutes, they added another two gaols thanks to Julian Iwueke on the 81st and Leontiev Konda two minutes later.

Sta. Venera Lightnings defeated Marsaskala 3-0 at the Sirens Stadium. Mark Grech put the Lightnings ahead on the 22nd minute and one minute from the end of the first half, Danijel Vasic doubled the score. Joseph Chetcuti converted a penalty twelve minutes from time to seal the issue.

At the Luxol Stadium, Msida St. Joseph defeated Mtarfa 3-0 courtesy of Darren Caruana on the half-hour, Glanville Goodlip just before half-time and Clint Zammit just past the hour.

In another match at the Sirens Stadium, Kirkop United and Xghajra Tornados shared the spoils in a goalless draw. A draw which allows Xghajra to move third.

Kalkara lead the way with 33 points, followed by Luqa on 29, Xghajra on 28, Sta. Venera and Santa Lucia 27, Kirkop 24, Msida 23, Mdina 21, Zurrieq 16, Dingli 11, Ta’ Xbiex 9, Mtarfa 6 and Marsaskala 3.
