Nadur Youngsters stage fine comeback

Nadur Youngsters staged a fine comeback in the BOV Gozo Football League First Division as they came back from two goals down to beat Kercem Ajax 3-2 at the Gozo Stadium on Sunday and move temporarily three points clear.

Philip Taylor put Mellieha ahead on the 19th minute and Jean Paul Mizzi doubled the score on the 33rd. Milos Stojanovic pulled one back five minutes in the second half; Christian Debono equalised nine minutes from time and four minutes in added time, Stojanovic notched the winner.

Ghajnsielem also came from behind to beat Oratory Youths 2-1. Oratory took the lead thanks to Bartomeu Perello Palou on the 7th minute, Demba Toure equalised on the 16th minute when he converted a penalty and John Camilleri gave the Blacks the three points with a goal on the 64th.

In the BOV Gozo Football League Second Division, leaders Sannat Lions suffered a shock 0-2 defeat to Gharb Rangers at the Kercem Ajax on Saturday. Dylan Bellotti put the Rangers ahead on the 38th and Ryan Grech doubled the score five minutes later.

St. Laurence Spurs join Sannat on top following a 4-2 win over Zebbug Rovers at the Sannat Ground on Friday. Mohammed Senussi Telessi put the Spurs ahead on the 10th minute and Charles Mercieca doubled the score on the 41st. Josef Debrincat reduced the gap two minutes from the end of the first half but St. Laurence hit back with goals by Mohammed Senussi on the 47th and Jason Theuma on the 63rd. Ejofor Nkwocha converted a penalty for Zebbug on the 80th.

In another match on Saturday, Munxar Falcons defeated Qala Saints 4-1. Michael Mattias Uzor converted a penalty on the 4th minute and Jordi Parnis doubled the score on the 10th, Elijah Xuereb made it 3-0 on the 28th and Oliver Curmi added another on the 40th before Christoph Caruana scored a consolation goal on the 68th.
