Twelve wins in a row for Birkirkara girls, ten for Swieqi

Birkirkara extended their positive run in the BOV Women’s First Division with a twelfth consecutive win as they defeated Raiders (Luxol) 3-0 at the Charles Abela Stadium on Tuesday.

Kelly Agius Pace put the Stripes ahead on the 25th minute, Leanne Micallef doubled the score on the 63rd and Sarah Urpani sealed the issue with a third goal two minutes in added time.

Hibernians beat Kirkop United 2-0 at the Charles Abela Stadium on Wednesday thanks to a Ylenia Carabott penalty on the 18th minute and a goal by Dionne Tonna on the 71st.

At the Mgarr Ground, Mgarr United defeated Gozo 3-1 on Tuesday. Brenda Borg put Mgarr ahead on the 27th minute and although Yanika Mercieca equalised on the 36th, Amber Grech made it 2-1 for Mgarr four minutes later. Brenda Borg extended the lead on the 44th minute.

Birkirkara lead the way with 37 points, followed by Hibernians on 30, Mgarr 19, Kirkop 18, Raiders and Gozo 4.

Meanwhile in the BOV Women’s Second Division, Swieqi United maintained their unbeaten record with a tenth win as they defeated bottom placed Kirkop United Team B 8-0 thanks to goals by Yolande Attard (1st and 59th), Emma Moore (15th, 23rd, 54th and 74th) and Amy Galea Gingell (65th and 89th).

At the Mgarr Ground, Tarxien Rainbows defeated Hamrun Spartans 4-2 thanks to goals by Jade Schembri on the 7th, Kimberley Borg on the 29th, Amy Busuttil on the 71st and Stephanie Torpiano on the 72nd with Cristiane Ortiz reducing the gap with goals on the 48th and the 83rd.

Swieqi lead the way with 30 points, followed by Mosta on 22, Tarxien 13, Hamrun 7 and Kirkop United Team B 4.
