Xewkija Tigers take sole leadership

Xewkija Tigers took sole leadership in the BOV Gozo Football League First Division as they defeated Kercem Ajax 2-0 at the Gozo Stadium on Sunday.

Dene Shields put the Tigers ahead on the 9th minute and Shaun Bajada doubled the score on the 45th.

Nadur Youngsters, on the other hand, lost 2-4 to Oratory Youths on Friday. Shaun Attard put Nadur ahead on the 37th minute but two minutes later, Bartomeu Perello Palou levelled matters. A brace by Sibi Gwar on the 61st and 66th put Oratory 3-1 ahead and Manwel Gauci increased the lead further on the 72nd. Ronaldo da Silva reduced the gap six minutes from time.

Ghajnsielem moved to just one point behind Nadur thanks to a 4-0 win over Victoria Hotspurs on Sunday thanks to goals by Chris Camilleri on the 15th and a penalty on the 21st, Renan Pimenta Telles on the 37th and Emiliano Lattes on the 79th.

In another match, SK Victoria Wanderers defeated Xaghra United 3-1. The Wanderers took a three-goal lead thanks to Igor Grkajac on the 22nd, a Milanko Raskovic penalty on the 69th and Predrag Djordevic on the 71st. Antonio Laskov scored a consolation goal three minutes in added time when he converted a penalty.

Meanwhile in the BOV Gozo Football League Second Division, Sannat Lions were held in a 2-2 draw by Qala Saints at the Kercem Ajax Stadium on Saturday. Qala took the lead thanks to Steve Dimech just before half-time but Ajibade Adeshina levelled matters on the 74th and although Dimech restored the lead for the Saints, Sannat equalised three minutes from time thanks to a Sunday Baala penalty.

In another match, St. Lawrence Spurs defeated Gharb Rangers 2-1. Mohammed Senussi Telessi put the Spurs ahead on the 16th minute and twelve minutes later, Jason Portelli doubled the score. Gharb pulled one back thanks to a Andrew Ofulue penalty on the 56th.
