BOV Division 3: Kalkara win seven-goal thriller

Leaders Kalkara came back from two goals down to beat Ta’ Xbiex 4-3 in a seven-goal thriller at the Centenary Stadium in one of four matches from the BOV Third Division.

Chris Farrugia put Ta’ Xbiex ahead on the 6th minute and ten minutes later, Christian Wismayer doubled the score. However Timothy Thomas reduced the gap on the 29th and a minute later, Beppe Antignolo levelled matters. Just before half-time, Matthew Schembri put Kalkara ahead and Ryan Sell added another on the 64th. Ta’ Xbiex were back in contention as they reduced the gap thanks to an own goal on the 72nd.

Luqa St. Andrew’s defeated Mtarfa 4-0 at the Centenary Stadium thanks to goals by Claudio Calleja on the 8th minute, George Falzon on the 15th, Randolph Penza on the 36th and Claudio Calleja six minutes from time.

Santa Lucia registered a comfortable 5-0 win over Mdina Knights at the Sirens Stadium. Sebastian Perdomo put them ahead on the 3rd minute, Gilbert Camilleri doubled the score on the 17th and Marlon Farrugia 3-0 on the 68th. Perdomo added another on the 72nd and Camilleri a fifth goal ten minutes from time.

A hat-trick by Luke Galea gave Dingli Swallows a 3-1 win over Kirkop United at the Sirens Stadium. Galea opened the score on the 41st and although an own goal restored equilibrium on the 58th, Galea scored twice on the 77th and a penalty on the 81st to hand the Swallows the three points.

Kalkara lead the way with 43 points, followed by Luqa on 38, Santa Lucia 34, Xghajra and Sta. Venera 31, Msida 30, Kirkop 29, Zurrieq 22, Mdina 21, Dingli 19, Ta’ Xbiex 10, Mtarfa 7 and Marsaskala 3.
