B’Kara, Hibs, Kirkop and Mgarr reach Women’s Knock-Out semi-finals

Birkirkara, Kirkop United, Mgarr United and holders Hibernians secured a place in the semi-finals of the Women’s Knock-Out where the Stripes will be facing the Paolites and Mgarr United take on Kirkop United.

Hibernians booked a place in the semi-final to extend their run in bid to successfully defend last year’s triumph after powering past Raiders (Luxol) by six goal to one at the Charles Abela Stadium.

Dorianne Theuma grabbed a hat trick with two goals within the first five minutes and another on the 75th while Dionne Tonna (9th), Ruth Steer Chetham (32nd) and Ylenia Carabott (78th) grabbed a goal each. Lynn Fenech scored for Raiders seven minutes from time.

Division One side Kirkop United cruised to the semi-finals after eliminating promotion hopefuls Swieqi United by three goals to nil at the Mgarr Ground. Youngster Demi Magrin was the hero for the Reds as she netted a hat-trick on the 13th, 70th and 80th.

Mgarr United clinched a place in the last four after a comprehensive 9-0 victory over Division Two side Hamrun Spartans at the Mgarr Ground. Brenda Borg scored three goals (17, 38 and 76) while Rebecca Vella (1′ and 66′) and Claudette Xuereb (19′ and 40′) scored two each. Tasha Pace (59′) and Jasmine Vella Turner (63′) added one each to seal the win.

Division One leaders Birkirkara will meet Hibernians in the semi-finals after eliminating Mosta in the quarter-finals, 5-0 at the Mgarr Ground. Kim Parnis put the Stripes ahead on the 5th minute while Alishia Sultana scored four goals on the 14th, 23rd. 67th and 82nd.
