Xewkija Tigers keep marching on

Leaders Xewkija Tigers kept marching on in the BOV Gozo Football League First Division as they defeated bottom-placed Xaghra United by the odd goal in five at the Gozo Stadium on Friday.

Elton Vella put the Tigers ahead on the 32nd and Claudio Frances doubled the score on the 61st. Nikola Vitorovic pulled one back on the 74th minute but Thiago Melo Dos Santos made it 3-1 three minutes later. Michael Bezzina scored a second goal for Xaghra nine minutes from time.

Nadur Youngsters beat Kercem Ajax 3-2 in another match on Friday. The Youngsters took a three-goal lead thanks to Shaun Attard on the 18th, Brandon Said on the 22nd and Milos Stojanovic on the 67th but Trayo Grozev on the 74th and a Gustavo Franca Amadio penalty nine minutes later reduced the gap for Kercem.

On Sunday, Ghajnsielem registered a 4-0 win over Oratory Youths thanks to a goal by John Camilleri on the 32nd, a brace by Renan Pimenta Telles on the 41st and 71st and a goal by Chris Camilleri on the 91st minute.

On the other hand, SK Victoria Wanderers shared the spoils in a goalless draw with neighbours Victoria Hotspurs in a match which saw three players sent off in the last twenty minutes.

Meanwhile in the BOV Gozo Football League First Division, St. Lawrence Spurs and Gharb Rangers continue to share the top spot after both registered wins.

St. Lawerence defeated Qala Saints 5-1. Dario Zamora put Qala ahead on the 11th minute but four goals by Denis Di Maio on the 18th, 30th, 69th and 73rd – including three penalties – and a goal by Charlon Tabone ten minutes from time gave the Spurs a comfortable win.

On the other hand, Gharb Rangers defeated Zebbug Rovers 4-0 thanks to goals by Oliver Farrugia on the 6th minute and three by Andrew Ofulue on the 23rd, a penalty on the 51st and the 66th.
