Qrendi and San Gwann secured promotion to Division 1 after Birzebbuga St. Peter’s suffered a third consecutive defeat as they lost 2-3 to St. George’s in a match from the BOV Second Division at the Luxol Stadium on Friday.

Aaron Hili put St. George’s ahead on the 26th minute and goals by Dylan Caruana on the 32nd and 34th gave them a three-goal lead. Luca Santoiemma pulled one back on the 71st minute and Lesley Cassar Jackson scored a second goal for Birzebbuga three minutes in added time.

Zejtun lead the way with 51 points, followed by Zabbar on 49, Qrendi 47, San Gwann 46, Birzebbuga 29, Siggiewi and Swieqi 27, Mgarr 22, Attard 21, St. George’s 19, Marsaxlokk 17, Mellieha 16, Gudja 15 and Ghaxaq 11.
