Leaders Naxxar Lions suffered a second consecutive defeat and a third defeat in five matches as they lost 2-4 to bottom-placed Gharghur in one of the two BOV First Division matches in programme on Saturday at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

Yuri de Jesus Messias converted a penalty to put Naxxar ahead on the 15th minute but Muda Fagbeja levelled matters on the 48th minute, Luke Busuttil made it 2-1 for Gharghur on the 54th and six minutes from time, Muda Fagbeja scored a third goal. The game was not over yet as in added time, Luke Busuttil added another with Lubos Adamec reducing the gao for Naxxar.

In another match, Rabat Ajax collected three precious points as they came from behind to beat Melita 2-1. A win which puts Rabat on level points with Zebbug, six ahead of Fgura and Gharghur.

Alan Borg Olivier gave Melita the lead on the 28th minute but a Chris Vella penalty restored equilibrium eleven minutes later. Ryan Micallef notched the winner eleven minutes from time.

Naxxar lead the way with 39 points, followed by Senglea and Qormi on 38, Lija and Vittoriosa 36, Mqabba 35, Sirens and Pietà 29, Melita and Marsa 24, Zebbug and Rabat 21, Fgura and Gharghur 15.
