Five Premier League players suspended

Five Premier League players were handed a one-match ban by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner following the weekend’s matches.

Anderson Francisco de Barros (Balzan), Andre Scicluna (Floriana), Zachary Scerri (Gzira), Pedro dos Santos Calcado (Mosta) and Frank Temile (Sliema) are therefore ruled out of the weekend’s matches.

Anderson de Barros will skip the top-of-the-table clash with Hibernians, Andre Scicluna the derby against Valletta, Pedrinho the game against Birkirkara, Temile the clash with St. Andrews and Scerri the match against Pembroke.

Gzira coach Darren Abdilla and Mosta assistant coach Johann Scicluna were also banned for one match.

Meanwhile in Division 1, Keith Vella (Fgura) was suspended for two matches while Luis Andre de Melo Lima, Melvin Busuttil, Gary Sultana and Rodney Refalo (Marsa), Luke Vella Critien (Mqabba), Luke Cauchi (Rabat), Ryan Dalli (Senglea), Jamie Pace (Vittoriosa) and Roderick Bajada (Zebbug) were banned for one match. Fgura coach Michael Molzahn was also banned for two matches.

In Division 2, Jean Carl Cuschieri (Attard), Chris Grech (Gudja), Lydon Micallef (Mellieha), Jean Claude Galea (Qrendi), Justin Spiteri and Andre Cachia (San Gwann), Sam Bartolo (Swieqi) and Jonathan Grech (Zabbar) were banned for one match.

Karl Cilia (Dingli), Jurgen Cassar and Ronald Spina (Kirkop), Gilmore Buttigieg (Ta’ Xbiex), Ryan Farrugia and Julien Iwueke (Zurrieq) were handed a one-match ban in Division 3.
