Birkirkara a win away from the championship

Five-time champions Birkirkara can secure the title on Tuesday if they take victory home against Kirkop United.

Shawn Meilak’s side are currently topping Division One with 46 points, 10 ahead of defending champions Hibernians and they are still unbeaten after 16 matches.

Hibernians have the best offensive record with 54 goals scored but the Stripes boast an excellent defensive record with only four goals conceded, underlining their resilience which maintained them in command of the league.

Hibs have been clinching the title for the past three seasons, with Birkirkara’s last success recorded in the 2012/2013 campaign.

The match will be played at the Charles Abela Stadium, Mosta, with kick-off scheduled for 20.15.

Meanwhile, Hibernians will take on Mgarr United as they aim to consolidate the second spot before shifting their attention on the domestic cup as they strive to at least finish the season with one silverware in their hands.

These teams will cross swords at the Mgarr Ground, 20.15.
