Hibernians came back from two goals down to beat Floriana 3-2 and move four points clear on top the BOV Premier League table with the winning goal arriving deep into stoppage time.

The Greens had a dream start, taking a two-goal lead within the first seven minutes. Hibs pulled one back just before half-time and after notching the equaliser eight minutes from time, they secured the winner five minutes in added time.

Floriana took the lead on the 2nd minute when off a Mario Fontanella freekick, Ignacio Varela extended his foot to beat Andrew Hogg from close range.

Five minutes later, the Greens doubled the score when Hogg saved partially a Nicolas Chiesa effort with Mario Fontanella hitting home off the rebound.

Chiesa almost made it 3-0 following a cross by Fontanella but although his attempt beat Hogg, Failla cleared the ball into safety.

Hibs reduced the gap three minutes from the end of the first half thanks to a Clayton Failla freekick which ended in the bottom right corner despite Grech’s desperate attempt to save.

Eight minutes from time, the Paolites equalised when off a low cross by Marcelo Dias from the right, Jackson Lima tapped the ball home.

Five minutes in added time, Hibs notched the winner when off a Clayton Failla freekick, Andrei Agius headed home past Matthew Grech to hand the Paolites three precious points in the race for the championship.

Meanwhile at the Hibernians Stadium, Mosta returned to winning ways as they defeated Tarxien Rainbows 3-1. A win which puts the Blues five points clear of bottom-placed Pembroke Athleta.

Mosta took the lead on the 3rd minute when Njongo Priso received an assist on the right and with an angled shot, he gave Andrea Cassar no chance.

Thirteen minutes in the second half, Mosta doubled the score when Pedro Calcado concluded a good run on the left flank by entering the penalty area and serving David Fenech whose curved shot beat the helpless Cassar.

Ten minutes from time, the Rainbows pulled one back thanks to an own goal by Jonas Rodrigues Ekani who was unlucky to head the ball over Cini following a cross from the left.

However four minutes later, Mosta restored a two-goal lead when Dexter Xuereb served Njongo Priso and the latter beat the Tarxien custodian with a diagonal shot from the right.
