Valletta sign Henry Bonello, Joseph Zerafa

Valletta secured the services of Malta international players Henry Bonello and Joseph Zerafa.

Bonello returns with the Citizens just five months after leaving the club to join Birkirkara in a deal which took Rowen Muscat in the opposite direction.

A product of Sliema Wanderers, Henry Bonello made his Premier League debut for the Blues in season 2006/07. He spent one season on loan with Vittoriosa Stars in Division 1 in season 2009/10 and on his return, he took the number 1 shirt at the club. While at Sliema, he won the FA Trophy. Bonello joined Hibernians on loan in season 2014/15 with whom he won the title. The following season, he moved to Valletta on loan but eventually, the Citizens made his move a definite transfer. With the Citizens, Bonello also won the championship.

On the other hand, Joseph Zerafa played with the Sirens, Mgarr United and Paola Hibs nurseries before moving to Birkirkara where he made his Premier League debut in season 2005/06. After winning three championships with the club, he decided to try his luck abroad in summer 2014 and moved to England where he played for Grays Athletic and Welling United but moved back to Malta in February 2015, re-joining Birkirkara.

The signing of Bonello and Zerafa follows that of Kyrian Nwoko from St. Andrews after the appointment of Zoran Popovic as their new coach.
