Jake Grech joins Birkirkara

After losing Henry Bonello and Joseph Zerafa, Birkirkara made their first signing after securing the services of Malta Under-21 international Jake Grech from Hamrun Spartans. Grech signs a five-year deal with the Stripes.

Grech has been attracting the interest of a number of clubs over the past couple of years. He made his senior team debut in season 2013/14 in Division 1 and then was a key player in the team which won consecutive promotions from Division 2 and Division 1 in seasons 2014/15 and 2015/16 respectively. The Malta Under-21 national team captain made his Premier League debut last season.

As part of the deal which takes Grech to Birkirkara, Daniel Zerafa will be joining Hamrun Spartans on a three-year deal.

A product of Hamrun Spartans, Daniel Zerafa made his Premier League debut in season 2010/11. He moved to Birkirkara in summer 2013 but spent time on loan with St. George’s in 2014/15 and then Tarxien Rainbows over the past two years.

Apart from Zerafa, another player who turned out for Tarxien Rainbows in recent years – Triston Caruana, should also join Hamrun Spartans.
