Following a 2-0 defeat at the Pancho Arena in Felcsút on Thursday, Balzan will be hoping for a positive result as they take on Videoton FC in the second leg of the first qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League at the Hibernians Stadium on Tuesday, kick-off at 17:45.

Having to beat Videoton by at least three goals in order to reach the next round, where they would be facing Nõmme Kalju or B36 Tórshavn with the former winning the first leg 2-1, is no easy job for Marco Micovic’s side.

The Hungarians managed to break the deadlock eleven minutes from time and four minutes in added time, Balzan were unlucky to concede a second goal.

Addressing the media on Tuesday, Balzan sporting director Vladimir Simovic said that they were well aware of the strength of their opponents and that Videoton were firm favourites. He said that Balzan aim at giving their best during the second leg and are eager to make their supporters proud with a positive result, even if this could not be enough to secure a place in the second qualifying round.

When asked how he rated Balzan’s chances of proceeding to the next round, new Balzan coach Marko Micovic said “In football everything is possible. We should not be in football if we do not believe we can achieve something.”

“We went to Hungary to give our very best. As the game was developing, were were definitely not happy with the final result and especially with the goal in the 94th minute. Up to the 79th minute, we had the control of our game plan – not to concede any goals. However we made a couple of mistakes and we were punished,” added Micovic.

Balzan star striker Bojan Kaljevic admitted that after losing 2-0, overturning the result as very difficult. However Balzan would be ready to take the chance.

“We hope we will get a good result. It is very difficult to qualify after losing 2-0 but to beat a team like Videoton, it would still feel good,” said Kaljevic.

In the first leg, Micovic handed four of their new signings their debut, namely Milan Savic, Uros Ljubomirac and Cadu together with Alex da Paixao Alves who was included as a substitute. The Balzan is not expected to make any changes but Michael Johnson, who joined the club from St. Andrews, is expected to make his first appearance on Tuesday.
