Hibs suffer another 0-3 defeat to Red Bull Salzburg

Hibernians were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League after suffering a 3-0 defeat to FC Red Bull Salzburg in the second leg of the second qualifying round at the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg on Tuesday. FC Salzburg therefore proceed to the third qualifying round where they will be facing HNK Rijeka of Croatia thanks to a 6-0 aggregate score.

The hosts took the lead on the 11th minute when Hogg blocked a Christoph Leitgeb effort but Marc Rzatkowski headed home inside the empty net. Eight minutes later, Salzburg doubled the score thanks to Gulbrandsen whose shot from the right gave the Hibs goalkeeper no chance.

Towards the end of the first half, attempts by Gulbrandsen, Miranda and Dabbur were neutralised by Hogg.

Amadou Haidara made it 3-0 five minutes from time when he took the ball off a clearance by Kreuzriegler and hit low past Hogg with a shot from the edge of the area.
