Early goals hand Spartans second win

Hamrun Spartans returned to winning ways as two early goals handed them a 2-1 win over St. Andrews at the Centenary Stadium on Friday.

This was the second win in three games for the team led by Jacques Scerri while for the Saints, this was the second defeat in three matches.

St. Andrews who are yet to appoint formally a new coach had Kyle Butler and new signings Misael Miranda Gomes and Martin David making their debut. Alyson Micallef who joined Hamrun from Balzan on loan was included as a substitute.

The Spartans manager to take the lead after just seven minutes when off a Francisco Manoel Marino Clavero, Daniel Zerafa hit home past goalkeeper Calleja Cremona.

On the 16th minute, Hamrun doubled the score thanks to Guilherme Felipe de Castro who rose high to head home off a Thiago Espindola De Paula free kick.

St. Andrews pulled one back through Kemmu Degran Jackson whose shot from outside the area on the 62nd minute beat goalkeeper Jake Galea.
