Mosta FC present their new signings

Mosta FC presented their new signings, including no less than ten new foreigners, during a press conference at the Nilmar showroom in Mosta on Friday.

Addressing the media, President George Galea said that the club had managed to build a good squad and the team was playing good football, despite two defeats which were the result of controversial decisions.

Galea revealed that thanks to an agreement with Italian Serie A side Chievo Verona, two players joined Mosta FC and hopefully more players would join the club thanks to this agreement, more players would join Mosta in January.

The Mosta president said that these were exciting times for the club as the club has plans for the Charles Abela Stadium which would make Mosta FC a self-sufficient club should these plans materialise. Galea stressed on the importance of the law of the commercialisation of sports facilities which according to him was the only forward for local clubs to strengthen their financial position.

Galea thanked the main sponsors – Dimbros and Nilmar and the other club partners mainly Noelco, TopShape and technical sponsor Teamsport.

Mosta FC coach Johann Scicluna said that after his appointment, together with the committee agreed on the appointment of the technical staff team who would devise a professional strategy required to compete in the Premier League. He said that in trying to strengthen the squad, the technical staff was careful to choose players who would fit within the coach’s tactical philosophy and also within the club’s budget.

Scicluna said that after retaining Kurt Magro, Tyrone Farrugia and David Fenech, the club focussed on getting good quality foreigners and now had a good mix of young and experienced foreigners. The squad also includes young promising players which include three Under-19 internationals and one Under-21 international.

The Mosta coach added that so far the team was playing attractive football and that the main objective will be that of securing their Premier League status as early as possible.

This summer, Mosta secured the services of Semen Datsenko, Ivan Maric, Thomas Veronese, Cristian Martens Fernandes, Edison Bilbao Zarate, Davide Mansi, Giovanni Nuti, Jasir Bekjiri, Blessing Godwin Henshaw and Leonardo Henrique Ferreira. Other new arrivals are Jean Paul Formosa, Kurt Camilleri and Ryan George Camilleri.
