Favourites register wins as BOV GFA First Division kicks-off

The BOV Gozo Football League First Division kicked-off this weekend with Xewkija Tigers, Ghajnsielem, Nadur Youngsters and Victoria Hotspurs all emerging as winners.

Champions Xewkija Tigers defeated SK Victoria Wanderers 4-2 on Sunday. Joseph George Vella put the Tigers ahead on the 18th minute and although Ige Abdullahi Adeshina equalised on the 38th, a brace by Claudio Antunes put Xewkija 3-1 ahead. David Udo Monday reduced the gap on the 68th but Gennaro Hili sealed the issue with a fourth goal ten minutes from time.

Nadur Youngsters registered a comfortable 4-0 win over Kercem Ajax in another match on Sunday thanks to a brace by Darko Krstic on the 19th and 82nd, Shaun Attard on the 54th and Dewide dos Santos on the 62nd.

A goal by Everton Felipe da Silva Santos on the 6th minute gave Ghajnsielem a narrow win over Gharb Rangers on Friday. In another match on Friday, Victoria Hotspurs defeated Oratory Youths 2-0 thanks to goals by John Camilleri on the 9th minute and Elton da Silva on the 58th.

Meanwhile in the Gozo Football League Second Division, Sannat Lions defeated Qala Saints 2-0 at the Kercem Ajax Stadium on Saturday, Antoine Camilleri put the Lions ahead on the 27th minute and Oliver Farrugia doubled the score one minute from time.

The game between Xaghra United and St. Lawrence Spurs was abandoned after twenty-two minutes due to a power failure.
