A goal five minutes in added time gave St. Andrews a narrow win over nine-man Senglea Athletic at the Centenary Stadium. This was the first win for new coach Marko Glumac – a win which enabled them to join Mosta on the six-point mark and just two points behind Senglea.

Augusto Rene Caseres was sent off nine minutes in the second half after receiving a second yellow card and one minue in added time, Gonzalo Julian Leyton was also sent off for a second yellow card.

St. Andrews took full advantage and notched the winner on the 95th minute thanks to a Joseph Farrugia freekick which gave goalkeeper Matthew Farrugia no chance.

At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Lydon Micallef was the hero for Hamrun Spartans as they returned to winning ways with a 5-2 win over Mosta.

A win which enables the Spartans to close in on fourth-placed Hibernians and Balzan. Mosta, on the other hand, suffered a second consecutive defeat, leaving them joint-fourth from bottom.

Hamrun had a perfect start, taking the lead on the 2nd minute when Lydon Micallef pounced upon an erratic pass by Ivan Maric and beat goalkeeper Andreas Vella with a shot from just inside the area.

Mosta, however, levelled matters on the 10th minute thanks to Dexter Xuereb whose low shot from the left gave goalkeeper Steve Sultana no chance.

The Spartans regained the lead on the 15th minute when off a free kick by Thiaguinho from the left, Mauricio Jose Marinho rose high to head past Vella.

Hamrun increased the lead on the 34th thanks to Lydon Micallef who took advantage of another erratic pass, this time by Dexter Xuereb, advanced into the area before hitting past Vella.

Lydon Micallef crowned his fine performance with a third goal on the 67th minute after beating the Mosta custodian with a low shot from inside the area when served by Triston Caruana.

Mosta reduced the gap on the 77th minute thanks to substitute Calvin Camilleri whose cute volley from inside the area which gave Sultana no chance.

However one minute from time, Hamrun restored a three-goal lead when off a Lydon Micallef cross from the right, Siraj Arab Eddin slotted the ball past Vella.

In another match at the Centenary Stadium, Tarxien Rainbows notched the winner four minutes in added time to register their first win, defeating Sliema Wanderers 2-1.

For Tarxien, this was therefore a second consecutive positive result after losing the first four matches, holding Senglea in a draw last week. Sliema, on the other hand, suffer the second defeat in three matches.

The Rainbows took the lead on the 26th minute when Ayrton Azzopardi sent Ryan Darmanin through and the latter advanced before hitting hard past goalkeeper Glenn Zammit.

Nine minutes later, Sliema levelled matters thanks to Jefferson Mateus de Assis Estacio who received an assist by Frank Temile and hit home from close range.

Four minutes in added time, Andre Scicluna handed the Rainbows three precious points as he headed the ball home off a James Brincat freekick.
