The COREMALTA Unit within the Refereeing Department of the Malta Football Association organised the first seminar of season 2017/18 for those officials who are members of the COREMALTA programme. These officials are selected on a merit basis with the aim of fine-tuning their skills to succeed at top level.

The seminar, held at the Refereeing Centre, was opened by the Director of Refereeing, Kevin Azzopardi.

Guest speakers Samantha Tabone, a sports psychologist, addressed decision-making, leadership and personality; while FIFA referee Alan Mario Sant discussed match preparation. This was followed by a lecture on Management and Body Language, delivered by COREMALTA Unit member and former top referee Roberto Buontempo.

The seminar was concluded by the Head of the COREMALTA Unit and Referees’ Committee Member Stephen Mallia, with a presentation on Match Analyses supported by match video clips.
