Late Switzerland goal sinks Under-17 side

The Malta Under-17 national team was seconds away from collecting its first point in Group 1 of the UEFA European Under-17 Championship but ended up losing 0-1 to Switzerland at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.

It was Simon Sohm’s goal one minute from time which denied Malta a first positive result after the defeat to Belgium in the opening match.

Silvio Vella’s side faces Northern Ireland in the final match from the group on Wednesday. Northern Ireland lost 0-5 to Switzerland and 0-3 to Belgium in their first two matches.
