Futsal: Valletta prove too strong for Luxol

In the much-awaited clash of the titans – Valletta and Luxol in front of a huge crowd at the Corradino Pavilion, the Citizens kept marching on as they registered their sixth consecutive win.

It took some time for Valletta to break the deadlock as both teams were tactically disciplined and kept a watchful eye on each other. Five minutes from the end of the first half, off an inviting cross by Gia Nikvashvili, Jovica Milijic tapped the ball home from close range.

Early in the second half, it was Milijic again who doubled the score for the Citizens. Murtaz Kakabadze who had a great performance throughout the whole game, managed to score the third goal for Valletta.

Luxol introduced Celino Alves as the flying keeper and this tactic proved successful as captain Mark Zammit reduced the gap as he scored twice in a short period of time. However the Citizens sealed the issue late in the game thanks to Denis Di Maio.

Meanwhile Pietà registered a fine 11-0 win over Swieqi United U21 while Hamrun Tre Angeli beat Tarxien JMI 6-2. Swieqi United returned to winning ways as they defeated Qormi 9-4. Mriehel ESS also returned to winning ways as they beat Marsaskala 8-1 while the derby between University of Malta and Junior College, saw the Universitarians bagging another three points thanks to a comfortable 18-4 win.
