BOV Women’s League: Hibs, B’Kara keep marching on

Hibernians and Birkirkara kept marching on in the BOV Women’s League as they extended their perfect record with another win.

Hibernians scored two late goals as they came from behind to beat Raiders (Luxol) 3-1 at the Mgarr Ground. Leanne Micallef put Raiders ahead on the 20th but seven minutes in the second half, Francesca Chircop levelled matters. A brace by Dorianne Theuma on the 83rd and 88th (a penalty) handed Hibernians the three points.

At the Charles Abela Stadium, Birkirkara found no difficulty in beating Mosta 9-0. Alishia Sultana put the Stripes ahead on the 15th minute and a brace by Tracy Teuma on the 31st and 37th extended the lead further before Veronique Mifsud added another five minutes from the end of the first half. Sarah Urpani scored a fifth goal six minutes in the second half and ten minutes later, Raina Giusti added another. Tracy Teuma made it 7-0 on the 78th with Raina Giusti scoring another two goals on the 84th and 87th.

Swieqi United earned their first point in a 2-2 draw with Mgarr United at the Zebbug Ground. Yolande Attard put Swieqi ahead on the 6th minute but Angelique Schembri equalised on the 35th. Amy Galea Gingell restored the lead for Swieqi on the hour but a Rebecca D’Agostino penalty three minutes from time earned a point for Mgarr.

A goal by Demi Magrin on the 22nd and Liis Pello on the 38th gave Kirkop United a 2-0 win over Fgura United at the Fgura Ground in another match on Tuesday.

On Sunday, in the Women’s Under-19 League, Kirkop United defeated Zebbug Rangers 14-1 at the Tarxien Ground. By half-time, Kirkop had already taken a five-goal lead thanks to a Shakira Bugeja hat-trick and a brace by Maria Michela Cassar. Cassar added another three goals in the second-half with Demi Magrin and Katryn Ellul both notching hat-tricks with Martina Schembri scoring a consolation goal for Zebbug when Kirkop were already leading by eight goals.

In another match, Tarxien Rainbows defeated Raiders (Luxol) 3-0 thanks to goals by Kailey Willis on the 27th, Elena Sissons on the 65th and Amy Busuttil on the 69th.
