BOV Division 1: Hotspurs close in on Qormi

Pietà Hotspurs registered a fifth consecutive win in the BOV First Division as they beat Zabbar St. Patrick 3-1 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium in one of the three matches in programme on Friday.

Lawrence Chiedozie converted a penalty seven minutes from the end of the first half and Quincy Bregman doubled the score eleven minutes in the second half. Kurt Borg pulled one back on the 73rd minute but three minutes in added time, Gabriel Mensah sealed the issue with a third goal.

Pembroke Athleta joined Rabat Ajax on the four-point mark after defeating San Gwann 2-0 in another match at the Victor Tedesco Stadium courtesy of Mead Mifsud on the 28th and Owen Bugeja two minutes in the second half.

At the Centenary Stadium, Melita and Qrendi shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Dhonathan Santos da Hora putnArendi ahead on the 23rd but Mark Russo equalised for Melita on the 57th minute.

Qormi lead the way with 26 points, followed by Pietà on 24, Mqabba 19, Zejtun 17, Vittoriosa 15, San Gwann and Zebbug 14, Sirens and Qrendi 13, Melita 10, Marsa and Zabbar 7, Rabat and Pembroke 4. Pembroke had ten points deducted.
