Joint-leaders share spoils in draw

Birkirkara and Hibernians ended their direct tie in a goalless stalemate to maintain their unbeaten record at the top of the BOV Women’s League table at the Charles Abela Stadium on Thursday. With one game to go to conclude the first round, both teams will be striving to maintain their positive run ahead of the second pile of fixtures later on this season.

Meanwhile Mġarr United profited from this draw as secured a 4-0 win over Kirkop United at the Mgarr Ground to reduce the gap within the top two to six points. Amber Grech put them ahead on the 21st minute and Claudette Xuereb doubled the score two minutes later. Roxanne Micallef scored a third goal on the 69th and Rachel Pace scored for the fourth goal for the Greens ten minutes later.

In a highly-entertaining encounter, Fgura United chalked up their second win of the season after winning by the odd goal in seven against Swieqi United at the Zebbug Ground. Ilenia Navarro opened the score for Fgura on the 9th minute but Yolande Attard levelled matters two minutes later. Fgura regained the lead on the 12th minute thanks to Marie Claire Alamango but Kate Galea restored equilibrium on the 14th and five minutes later, Yolande Attard made it 3-2 for Swieqi. However Marie Claire Alamango equalised four minutes in the second half and Janice Pace secured the victory for Fgura on the 71st.

Two goals from Kailey Willis on the 33rd minute and Chloe Ann Ellul on the 90th earned Tarxien Rainbows a 2-0 win over Mosta at the Charles Abela Stadium to overtake Swieqi at third-bottom.
