Leaders Qormi suffered their first defeat in the BOV First Division as Vittoriosa scored deep into stoppage time to beat them 2-1 at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday. A defeat which leaves Qormi just two points ahead of second-placed Pietà.

Jose Luis Caetano da Silva put Qormi ahead on the 16th minute but Francisco Arriagada Mella equalised six minutes in the second half. Six minutes in added time, Vittoriosa notched the winner thanks to Obinna Obiefule whose penalty beat Qormi goalkeeper Jamie Azzopardi.

In another match, Sirens defeated Rabat Ajax 2-1. Christian Caruana put Sirens ahead on the 24th minute and Darko Medic doubled the score on the 88th minute with substitute Isaac Abela reducing the gap a minute later.

Qormi lead the way with 26 points, followed by Pietà on 24, Mqabba 19, Vittoriosa 18, Zejtun 17, Sirens 16, San Gwann and Zebbug 14, Qrendi 13, Melita 10, Marsa and Zabbar 7, Rabat and Pembroke 4. Pembroke had ten points deducted.
