Danilo Doncic appointed Valletta FC coach

Valletta Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Danilo Doncic as new Coach for its senior squad. The former Valletta FC striker has signed a contract with the club until the end of season 2018/2019.

Doncic replaces Zoran Popovic whose contract was terminated by mutual agreement following a meeting between president Victor Sciriha and the Serbian coach.

Danilo Doncic had started this season as coach of St. Andrews but his contract was terminated in September after joining the Saints early in October 2016 and leading them to securing their Premier League status at the end of last season.

He had started his coaching career with First Division side San Gwann in season 2006/07. The following season, he was appointed coach of Floriana. In July 2008, he moved to Bulgaria joining PFK Lokomotiv Sofia as assistant coach of the first time. Doncic then joined Greek top division side Kavala as assistant coach in June 2010. He moved to Malta in January 2011, joining Sliema Wanderers the following month. In summer 2012, he joined Tarxien Rainbows but stepped down after the first two games. He moved to Mosta in February 2013 but his contract was terminated in December by mutual consent.

Doncic then coached Al-Najma in Bahrain before moving to Greece where he led Ethnikos in Greece.
