Wanderers hold Valletta in 1-1 draw

Valletta joined Balzan on top the BOV Premier League table following a 1-1 draw with Sliema Wanderers at the Centenary Stadium on Friday. Balzan, however, have a game in hand.

Sliema scored early in the game and seemed heading towards victory but the Citizens, who were coming from three consecutive wins, rescued a point late in the game.

The Wanderers took the lead on the 16th minute when off Matias Muchardi concluded a fine solo effort with a cross for Mark Scerri from which the latter headed home past goalkeeper Henry Bonello.

However eight minutes from time, Valletta notched the equaliser thanks to substitute Albert Prosa when he tapped the ball home from close range following a cross by Joseph Zerafa and an assist by Raed Ibrahim Saleh.
