Hotspurs regain four-point lead after turning defeat into victory

Victoria Hotspurs turned defeat into victory as they defeated Xewkija Tigers 2-1 in a match from the BOV Gozo Football League First Division at the Gozo Stadium on Sunday.

Milos Stojanovic put the Tigers ahead on the 7th minute and Elton da Silva had the opportunity to equalise three minutes from the end of the first half but had a penalty saved by the goalkeeper. However three minutes in added time, Chris Mercieca equalised and Chris Camilleri notched the winner eleven minutes from time.

In another match, Kercem Ajax defeated SK Victoria Wanderers 3-1. Ige Abdullahi Adeshina put the Wanderers ahead on the 4th minute but Alen Haska equalised on the 13th. Kercem forged ahead thanks to Elton Vella on the 31st and Andrew Mizzi sealed the issue with another goal six minutes from time.

Meanwhile in the BOV Gozo Football League Second Division, Sannat Lions defeated Qala Saints 3-1. Modibo Niakite gave Qala the lead on the 11th minute but a goal by Oliver Farrugia just before half-time and a brace by Franci Kosova on the 78th and 85th handed Sannat the three points.

Leaders Munxar Falcons beat Zebbug Rovers by the odd goal in five. Bartomeu Perello Palou gave Zebbug the lead on the 24th and although Paul Said equalised before the end of the first half, Perello Palou made it 2-1 two minutes in the second half. However a brace by Jordi Parnis on the 65th and 89th handed Munxar the three points.

In another match, St. Lawrence Spurs registered a 3-1 win over Xaghra United. Mohammed Senussi Telessi opened the score on the 35th minute and goals by Charlon Tabone on the 67th and Carlton Mifsud on the 87th extended the lead before Manuel Galea converted a penalty in added time to reduce the gap.
