The Maroons started to lose ground and now lie seven points behind leaders Balzan and four behind Valletta. A win is a must in their bid to retain third place as Hibernians and Birkirkara lie just two points behind them.
Their task will however be no easy one as the Saints collected four points from the last two matches – a draw with Hamrun and a win over Floriana. St. Andrews are currently joint-third from bottom and another positive result will help them climb out of the danger zone.
In the first round, Gzira defeated St. Andrews 3-2.
