BOV Division 2: Gudja held by Mgarr

Gudja United missed the chance to close in on leaders Swieqi United and second-placed Santa Lucia after being held in a goalless draw by Mgarr United at the Sirens Stadium in one of four matches from the BOV Second Division on Saturday.

Fgura United extended their positive run with a 3-0 win over Gharghur in another match at the Sirens Stadium to join Gudja and Siggiewi in third place. Ryan Sell opened the score early in the second half. Gilbert Martin doubled the score on the 65th minute thanks to a penalty and two minutes later, the same player added another to seal the issue.

At the Luxol Stadium, Marsaxlokk registered a 2-1 win over Kalkara in a direct clash. Isaac Galea put Marsaxlokk ahead on the 61st minute and although Timmy Thomas equalised on the 71st, Cleaven Frendo notched the winner nine minutes from time.

In another match, Birzebbuga St. Peter’s beat Attard 3-0 thanks to goals by Andrea Cutajar on the 3rd minute, Didier Sohna on the 45th and Jean Claude Cassar on the 74th. The Saints join Kalkara in sixth place, one behind Gudja, Fgura and Siggiewi.

Swieqi lead the way with 31 points, followed by Santa Lucia on 30, Gudja, Fgura and Siggiewi on 27, Birzebbuga and Kalkara 26, Marsaxlokk 25, Mgarr 19, Luqa 14, Attard 10, St. George’s 6 and Gharghur 3.
