BOV Division 1: Qormi move six points clear

Qormi move six points clear in the BOV First Division as they registered a 3-1 win over Zabbar St. Patrick at the Centenary Stadium in one of four matches in programme on Sunday.

Luke Busuttil put Qormi ahead on the 4th minute and Chris Vella doubled the score on the 19th. Dillon Pace pulled one back for Zabbar when he converted a penalty on the 32nd but Jose Lucas Caetano da Silva made it 3-1 on the 70th.

In another match at the Centenary Stadium, Zebbug Rangers defeated Rabat Ajax 2-0 to join Pietà Hotspurs in third place, two points behind Mqabba. Aud-Gustine James Obaje scored twice on the 17th and 67th to hand the Rangers the three points.

At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Vittoriosa Stars and Sirens shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Emmanuel Mbong put Vittoriosa ahead on the 37th minute but Giovanni Galea equalised on the 66th.

On the other hand, San Gwann collected three important points in a 2-0 win over Zejtun Corinthians. Godwin Blessing Henshaw opened the score on the 33rd and Kyle Gatt doubled the score on the 37th.

Qormi lead the way with 38 points, followed by Mqabba on 32, Pietà and Zebbug 30, Vittoriosa 26, Zejtun 23, Sirens and San Gwann 21, Qrendi 20, Pembroke 16, Zabbar 13, Melita and Marsa 12 and Rabat 4.
