St. Andrews, Mosta share spoils in draw

St. Andrews earned another point in the battle against relegation as they held Mosta in a goalless draw in front of just seventy four spectators at a rain-soaked Centenary Stadium on Friday.

This was in fact the fourth consecutive positive result for Michael Woods’ side following a win over Floriana and draws with Hamrun and Gzira. Mosta, on the other hand, stay ninth while keeping a seven-point cushion over St. Andrews and nine over Naxxar Lions.

The Saints created the better chances, going close early in the game with headers by Jason Vandelannoite and Tano Azian. The Blues’ best scoring opportunity occurred on the hour with Leonzinho concluding a fine run on the right flank but there was no one to meet his inviting cross.
