BOV Division 3: Sta. Venera move three points clear

Sta. Venera Lightnings take sole leadership in the BOV Third Division following a fine 4-0 win over Msida St. Joseph at the Centenary Stadium on Wednesday.

William Camilleri opened the scoring for the Lightnings on the 28th minute and Yau Mun Law doubled the score five minutes from the end of the first half. A brace by Eddie Wileman on the 59th and 84th sealed the issue for Marco Grech’s side.

In another match, Ta’ Xbiex came from behind to beat Marsaskala 3-2. Jonathan Bugeja put the Southseasiders ahead on the 14th minute but Andrew Xuereb equalised on the 23rd. Matthew Gauci restored the lead for Marsaskala on the 35th. Adrian Dominicus levelled matters on the 50th and on the 90th, Keith Borg notched the winner.

Sta. Venera lead the way with 38 points, followed by Mellieha on 35, Xghajra and Kirkop 28, Msida 25, Mdina 23, Dingli 19, Zurrieq 18, Ghaxaq 16, Mtarfa 10, Ta’ Xbiex 8 and Marsaskala 7.
