Msida St. Joseph bounced back from the mid-week defeat to Sta. Venera Lightnings as they defeated Mellieha 2-1 in one of the two BOV Third Division matches at the Charles Abela Stadium on Saturday. This second consecutive defeat for Mellieha could see the Lightnings extend the lead on Sunday.

Cristian Toro Perdomo put Msida ahead on teh 24th minute and although Ryan Sciberras equalised on the 31st, Toro Perdomo made it 2-1 eleven minutes in the second half.

In another match, Marsaskala and Mtarfa shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw. Matthew Sciortino put Marsaskala ahead five minutes in the second half but two minutes later, Miguel Xerri equalised and Shawn Cutajar made it 2-1 for Mtarfa on the 61st. However Marsakala rescued a points with a goal on the 92nd minute thanks to Ryan Parry.

Sta. Venera lead the way with 38 points, followed by Mellieha on 35, Xghajra, Kirkop and Msida 28, Mdina 23, Dingli 19, Zurrieq 18, Ghaxaq 16, Mtarfa 11, Ta’ Xbiex and Marsaskala 8.
