Six Premier League players suspended

Six Premier League players were suspended by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner following the weekend’s matches.

Naxxar Lions goalkeeper Omar Borg was banned for four matches and midfielder Daren Falzon for two while Milos Lepovic (Balzan), Mislav Andjelkovic (Birkirkara), Zachary Brincat (Mosta) and Joseph Farrugia (St. Andrews) were handed a one-match ban.

The season is therefore over for Omar Borg and Daren Falzon. Lepovic misses Balzan’s next game against Senglea, Andjelkovic and Farrugia the clash between St. Andrews and Birkirkara and Zachary Brincat the derby against Naxxar.

Birkirkara team manager Michael Valenzia was banned for for match and Naxxar official Simon Camilleri was suspended for ten matches.

In Division 1, Aidan Mizzi (Melita), Julian Azzopardi (Qrendi), Luke Cauchi (Rabat), Mario Andres Arieta Suarez (San Gwann), Joseph JoJo Ogunnupe (Vittoriosa), Rafael da Silva Gomes (Zebbug) and Omar Elhussieny (Zejtun) were banned for one match while Vittoriosa’s Irvin Abela was suspended for two matches. Mqabba official Antoine Sciberras was also banned for two matches.

In Division 2, Malcolm Attard (Attard), Firas Aboulezz (Gudja) and Mark Vella (Kalkara) were banned for one match while Ilyad Scicluna (Kirkop), Lydon Micallef (Mellieha), Glen Saliba and Deemer Cutajar (Xghajra) were handed a one-match ban in Division 3. Marsaskala’s Matthew Barbara and Marvic Grech and Mdina’s Justin Tonna were suspended for three matches.
