BOV Division 2: Gudja United, Santa Lucia promoted

Gudja United and Santa Lucia were promoted from the BOV Second Division but a championship decider is necessary as both sides ended their commitments on level points.

At the Luxol Stadium, Fgura United defeated Gudja 1-0 courtesy of Thomas Grech while at the Centenary Stadium, Santa Lucia were held in a goalless draw by Siggiewi.

On the other hand, Swieqi United will be facing the team finishing third from bottom in the BOV First Division in the Play-Off after losing 1-3 to Marsaxlokk at the Sirens Stadium. Matthew Bartolo put Marsaxlokk ahead and although Shaun Bugeja equalised for Swieqi, Marsaxlokk restored the lead thanks to an own goal and Cleavon Frendo put Marsaxlokk 3-1 ahead.

St. George’s leapfrogged Attard into third from bottom as they defeated Mgarr United 5-1 at the Luxol Stadium. St. George’s will therefore take part in the Play-Off against the team finishing third in the BOV Third Division. Daniel Zammit put the Cospicua side ahead on the 16th minute and Bobby Ray Vaughan scored three on the 19th, 36th and 69th to give St. George’s a four-goal lead. Lazar Doric pulled one back on the 76th but Vaughan added another seven minutes from time.

Attard, on the other hand, were relegated after losing 0-1 to bottom-placed Gharghur at the Centenary Stadium. Nikola Tasic scored the only goal for Gharghur in the dying minutes.
