San Gwann Under-15 crown successful season with double

San Gwann crowned a most successful season in the Under-15 competitions organised by the Youth Football Association after winning the double thanks to a 1-0 win over Paola Hibs in the Under-15 Knock-Out at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Sunday.

Andrea Zammit scored the winning goal on the 23rd minute of the second half.

San Gwann had already won Section A, finishing on top, one point ahead of runners-up Pietà Hotspurs. Throughout their league campaign, San Gwann lost just one game – the opening game against Balzan. Mosta and St. Andrews placed joint-third, followed by Paola Hibs and Balzan with Valletta and Melita finishing in the bottom two places.

In Section B, the winners were Gozo FC who finished one point ahead of runners-up Birkirkara. Kirkop United finished third, followed by Hamrun Spartans, Zabbar St. Patrick, Zebbug Rangers, Floriana and Lija/Iklin. The latter two teams therefore finished in the bottom two places.

Naxxar Lions won Section C, finishing eight points clear of runners-up Attard. Sliema Wanderers placed third, ahead of Tarxien Rainbows, Qormi, Pembroke Athleta and bottom duo Luqa St. Andrew’s and Mellieha.

Sirens emerged as clear winners in Section, eight points clear of runners-up Swieqi United. Xghajra Tornados placed third, ahead of Zejtun Corinthians, Marsaskala, Rabat Ajax, Mqabba and Marsa.

In Section E, Marsaxlokk claimed maximum points from the nine matches played with Fgura United placing second, three points behind the winners. Mgarr United took third place, followed by Zurrieq, Mtarfa, Gzira United, Ghaxaq, Msida St. Joseph, Siggiewi and Sta. Venera United.
