Champions Valletta secured the services of 28-year old striker Mario Fontanella. Fontanella joins the Citizens after spending the last three years with eternal rivals Floriana.

Fontanella established himself as a key player, scoring 20 during his first season at the club, 14 in his second year and seventeen last season. With Floriana, he also won the FA Trophy and the BOV Super Cup.

With the Greens, A product of Napoli, Fontanella played for Barletta, Viribus Unitis, FC Mugnano, USD Noto Calcio, Sarenese, Bastia and Budoni before joining Floriana in summer 2015.
