Narrow win hands Qormi first three points

Newly-promoted Qormi started the new season on a high as a goal by captain Alessio Cassar handed them a narrow win over Senglea Athletic.

Qormi had six new players in squad – namely Manolito Micallef, Gaetano Gesualdi, Davide Mansi and foreigners Seo-In Kim, Alexsandro and Kassiano Soares. Senglea, on the other hand, were a completely different team from last season under a new coach – Bruno Russo.

The First Division champions scored the all-important goal six minutes in the second half when off a cross from the left by Yannick Yankam, Alessio Cassar hit home from close range.
