Wanderers register second win

Sliema Wanderers registered their second win in the BOV Premier League as they defeated Floriana 1-0 at the National Stadium on Friday.

Following last week’s impressive win over Valletta, the Wanderers managed to produce another good performance which enabled them to take home maximum points while maintaining another clean sheet.

Sliema had new signings Younes Marzouk making his debut as he replaced Mark Scerri. Floriana coach Nicolas Chiesa, on the other hand, named goalkeeper Matthew Grech and Patrick Wleh in the starting line-up with Ini Etim Akpan and Jurgen Pisani starting the game on the bench.

The Wanderers scored the all-important goal on the 16th minute when Jefferson de Assis’ effort was blocked and Matias Muchardi was at the right place at the right time to hit home from close range.

Muchardi could have added another on the 33rd minute but was unlucky to hit the crossbar with a direct freekick while Jean Paul Farrugia hit the upright two minutes from time.
